Excitonic-Cavity Polariton

Exciton-polaritons are quasi-particles that form as a result of interaction between excitons in extremely scaled quantum structures and photons embedded in a highly confined optical cavity. By careful design of high-Q photonic cavity and integrating with carefully designed nano-scale quantum wells, this quasi-particle state has been observed and reported at very low temperature in recent literature. Different material systems with high exciton binding energy can help observe these quasi-particle states even at room temperature.
